JOHOR BAHRU: A 25-year-old man was killed while lighting fireworks to celebrate Deepavali outside his house at Taman Mutiara, near Kulai, on Sunday.
Police said the man suffered injuries and burns on several parts of his body in the 12.30am incident and was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital here. He died while receiving treatment.
His 52-year-old father lodged a police report at the Kulai district police headquarters.
“The victim sustained injuries to the head and face, a fracture on the left arm and burns on the chest and the lower part of the body,” Kulai district police chief Tok Beng Yeow said in a statement today.
He said the case has been classified as sudden death. - FMT
