PETALING JAYA: Tabung Haji (TH) said some 700,000 depositors’ accounts risk being declared dormant if their owners do not activate them by Nov 1.
The pilgrims’ fund said the accounts represent RM60.4 million worth of deposits but have seen no transactions in the last seven years.
It said unless depositors re-activate their accounts by making at least one transaction, their accounts would be declared dormant and they would not enjoy the benefits of depositing money in Tabung Haji.
“However, the amount in a dormant account can still be claimed and returned to the depositor under section 23(2) of the the Tabung Haji Act,” the fund said in a statement. - FMT
