Perak DAP chairperson Nga Kor Ming spent almost two hours at Bukit Aman today having his statement recorded for allegedly insulting the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Police said they will summon him again for the next round of their probe.
Speaking to the media as he was leaving Bukit Aman at 3.15pm, Nga urged the police to investigate the "Najib Razak" Facebook page which he alleged had uploaded fake news with the intention to slander.
"As a law-abiding citizen, I came here as a witness to facilitate police investigations.
"I urge Bukit Aman to probe the 'Najib Razak' page which I found had uploaded fake news with the attempt to slander.
"I am confident that the truth will prevail and justice will be served," he said.
Nga had arrived at 1.30pm accompanied by several DAP leaders including Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, Batu Gajah MP V Sivakumar, Perak DAP adviser Ngeh Koo Ham and Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.
Ramkarpal is believed to be his lawyer.
Officers from Bukit Aman CID's D5 (Prosecution and Legal Division) recorded Nga's statement.
The division's principal assistant director Mior Faridalatrash Wahid confirmed that police will summon Nga again.
"We will summon him again after this. The investigation hasn't been completed yet. Today, we had to let him go early because he said he has to go to Parliament," he said.
Nga is alleged to have made an insulting remark on his Facebook account, "Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page", last month.
Former premier Najib Abdul Razak had pointed out Nga's alleged remark via his Facebook page "Najib Razak".
Nga, the Teluk Intan MP, said there was a political conspiracy to tarnish his good name and that of DAP.
He had demanded Najib apologise to all Malaysians for using a fake Facebook posting to sow hatred among the people towards him and DAP.
“The posting is from a page masquerading itself as 'Nga Kor Ming Super Fans Page' but it is not from me or DAP.
“A check online found that the posting Najib referred to was from a Facebook page titled 'Jiu Shi Huang Ya' which has nothing to do with me or DAP. This proves Najib lied again,” he had said in an earlier statement.
The Dewan Rakyat speaker's senior private secretary, Tan Tiong Yih, had then lodged a police report against Najib for sharing an allegedly fake online posting. - Mkini
