Bonsai is the wrong analogy: Zuraida on Syed Husin's criticism

PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin said "dibonsaikan" (stymied) was the wrong analogy to describe the Pakatan Harapan leaders’ relationship with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Syed Husin Ali, one of the founding leaders of PKR following the merger of Parti Keadilan Nasional and Parti Rakyat Malaysia, had questioned whether Harapan leaders had been "dibonsaikan" (stymied) by Mahathir in his criticism of the coalition on Sunday.

"I thought bonsai plant is something that is very steady or productive and stable.

"So I think it is the wrong analogy," Zuraida (photo) said when asked by reporters about Syed Husin's remarks.

She was attending the launch of the Malaysian Plastics Recycling Industry White Paper at Monash University in Subang Jaya today.

Syed Husin must not know how the cabinet meetings are like, Zuraida said.

"During cabinet meetings, we do exhaust all our points of view and all decisions are made on a consensus basis, not made by the prime minister alone.

"Syed Husin has got to know and understand this," said the Housing and Local Government Minister.

On Sunday, Syed Husin released a scathing statement criticising Mahathir and the Pakatan Harapan government.

”The people are asking if Anwar Ibrahim, Muhyiddin Yassin, Mohamad Sabu and Lim Kit Siang have been stymied (dibonsaikan) by Mahathir?

"Will Mahathir, who has been proven to be a sly leader and skilled at twisting facts, be allowed to continue to deceive the people?

"We direct these questions to the Harapan presidential council. If political anarchy happens due to Mahathir's actions, they will be held responsible," the former PKR deputy president said in the statement. - Mkini
