Koh Tat Meng and Diong Mei Li, the couple involved in the incident involving the alleged abuse of a stray dog by Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya officers are set to lodge a police report this evening over the matter.
Raj & Sach, a law firm representing the couple, claimed that the said dog is possibly dead or seriously injured due to the rough treatment and abuse by the said MPSJ officers.
"Our client, Koh was also assaulted by the said MPSJ officers during the incident," they alleged.
They also claim that their clients were wrongfully arrested by the police on the same day despite having committed no crime whatsoever.
"As such, our clients have decided to file a police report at Balai Polis USJ today at 5.30pm against the MPSJ officers for their brutal assault against a helpless dog, so as to ensure that the perpetrators of this abuse are brought to justice.
"Our client will also be lodging a police report for assault."
The incident was captured on video which went viral.
Yesterday, the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who is also the Royal Patron of the Stray Free Selangor (SFS) campaign, issued a statement saying she was "disappointed and saddened that such cruelty was still happening in the community despite the numerous awareness campaigns on strays."
"I was very upset by the video clip which showed MPSJ employees trying to catch a stray dog in an utterly inhumane way," she said in a statement posted on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page.
She also said that she was informed that State Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han had apologised over the abusive conduct of the MPSJ staff in the matter. - Mkini
