Police have recorded statements from five people in their investigation into claims that the Methodist Girls’ School in Penang allegedly allowed the reciting of a Christian prayer during an awards ceremony last week.
Nine more individuals are expected to be called in soon by the police to assist in their investigation.
Federal CID (prosecution and legal division) principal assistant director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said police will record statements from parents and other witnesses who attended the event.
"So far, 10 police reports have been filed against the school," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman today.
Police are investigating the case under Section 505C of the Penal Code for intent to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community of persons
This followed a stern warning issued by the Education Ministry to the school.
Education director-general Amin Senin said further disciplinary action was being considered against the school for contravening national education regulations.
The issue was highlighted after a Muslim group lodged a police report, accusing the school of trying to propagate Christianity to Muslims. - Mkini
