MACC seeking to recover RM420mil in 1MBD funds, including RM25.7mil from Nazir Razak

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti -Corruption Commission is seeking to recover RM420mil from 80 individuals and entities which received money from 1MDB.
Also in the list is CIMB group former chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak, the brother of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is currently facing trial over 1MDB-related matters.
The MACC will also be sending compound notices to Kota Baru Umno chief Tan Sri Fatmi Che Salleh, Pontian MP and former deputy minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan and former Johor Baru MP Tan Sri Shahrir Samad.
Among the entities The MACC is seeking the return of 1MDB funds from are Solar Shine Sdn Bhd, Salt Media Consultancy Sdn Bhd, Cense Media Sdn Bbd, Putri Umno, Umno divisions of Sepang, Bandar Tun Razak, Batu and Pekan.

It is also demanding that these entities such as Parti Rakyat Sarawak, Kedah Gerakan liaison committee and MIC headquarters come forward.

Its chief commissioner Latheefa Koya said the MACC was sending the compound notices out "as we speak".
"They will be given two weeks to pay. We can use the full authority of the law against them," she said at a press conference on Monday (Oct 7).
Latheefa also revealed the amount received by Nazir was RM25.7mil.
She said the latest list of released by the MACC is not exhaustive.
In June, the MACC had announced that it had filed a civil forfeiture suit against 41 individuals, companies and political parties, aiming to recover RM270mil.- Star
