Opposition wants DAP banned if linked to spread of illegal ideologies

Opposition leader in Parliament Ismail Sabri Yaakob is calling for DAP to be banned if found guilty of spreading ideologies which contravene federal laws.
Ismail (above) said this was as DAP leaders have been linked to the controversial comic Belt and Road Initiative for Win-Winism which was yesterday banned by Putrajaya for, among others, "promoting and spreading erroneous facts about the communist ideology".
The Home Ministry also said the book could create doubt among the younger generation about Malaysia's history besides being disrespectful of the sensitivities of a multiracial society.
The book in question was created by former DAP member Hew Kuan Yau and featured forewords written by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who is also Finance Minister, and DAP chairperson Tan Kok Wai.

“As we know, the communist ideology was banned alongside communist parties after independence and the communist struggle (then) was an armed struggle which sacrificed many lives.
“[...] so the opposition is urging Home Ministry to investigate all DAP leaders and anyone involved in the publishing of this comic to see they contravened federal laws.
“Therefore, DAP, which is registered under Societies Act 1966, is wrong to be involved in promoting (ideologies) which are against our laws. We, from the opposition bloc, want DAP probed and if found guilty, DAP must be banned,” Ismail, who is also Umno vice-president, said today.
He was speaking to reporters during a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
Despite the forewards written by its leaders, DAP has yet to formally deny any link to the comic. It has, however, denied links to the Asia Comic Culture Museum of which Hew is the curator and which published the book.
Hew, who today quit his post as Malaysia-China Business Council chief following the controversy surrounding the comic’s content and its distribution to school libraries, also denied DAP’s involvement with the publication of the book
Meanwhile, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan stressed that being anti-communist was not racist. This is as communist ideologies could be spread to all races and as such must be objected by all races. - Mkini
