Police: No link between 4 and Adib's death, no reason for them to flee abroad

There is no clear indication that the four suspects detained last December were involved in the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
Therefore, Federal CID (prosecution and legal division) principal assistant director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said there is no reason for the four to flee abroad.
"Many have asked about these four men (and their whereabouts).
“Actually, we did not only arrest these four. To be exact, 12 individuals were detained to facilitate investigations and all were released on police bail.

"I don't see a reason for them to flee. We conducted our probe, which showed there was no clear indication to link the 12 to the incident,” Mior Faridalathrash told a press conference in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur.
Yesterday, Umno lawmaker Noh Omar questioned the whereabouts of the four men and vowed to raise this issue in Parliament next week.
Meanwhile, Mior Faridalathrash urged all quarters to stop making such statements regarding the case.
“We have explained that investigations are ongoing. When completed, we will forward the investigation papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further action.
"If there are other supporting statements, we may call them (the 12 suspects) in again," he added.
Last week, the Shah Alam Coroner's Court ruled that Adib's death was due to a criminal act perpetrated by two or three unidentified assailants during the riot outside the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in USJ Subang Jaya last November.
Adib, 24, had succumbed to his injuries at the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Dec 17.
Coroner Rofiah Mohamad also found that the police's inaction with regard to controlling the riot was also a factor in the firefighter's death.
The inquest was held to determine if Adib's fatal injuries were due to being assaulted or an accident involving Fire and Rescue Department vehicles.
Attorney-General Tommy Thomas has said that no stone would be left unturned in this matter. - Mkini
