GEORGE TOWN: Police rescued 10 goats from the butcher’s knife in the nick of time.
This came soon after a Bukit Mertajam farmer lost 52 of his goats worth RM50,000 to a bandit of eight men over the weekend.
Police said the eight men arrived in a lorry at the farm along Jalan Mengkuang Keretapi at 1.20am on Saturday and tied up four Myanmar caretakers at the farm.
Central Seberang Perai police chief Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said police investigations later showed that 42 of the goats were slaughtered and sold at the Kulim wet market.
Police detained six men, aged between 19 and 61, including a butcher and several addicts, in connection with the robbery. Two more are still at large.
“The 61-year-old is believed to be the mastermind and is believed to have obtained RM15,000 to RM20,000 for all the goats.”
He said the 10 goats recovered were found with one of the suspects. - FMT
