PPBM man hails move to refer Ronnie Liu to DAP disciplinary committee

PETALING JAYA: A PPBM leader today lauded the DAP’s move to refer one of its assemblymen to the party’s disciplinary committee over remarks made against the prime minister.
PPBM information chief Senator Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said Selangor assemblyman Ronnie Liu’s remarks against Dr Mahathir Mohamad were “highly regrettable and rude” and ought to be censured.
Liu, who is a DAP Central Executive Committee member, courted controversy over his remarks that Pakatan Harapan (PH) could form the government without PPBM.
DAP’s organising secretary Loke Siew Fook had called Liu’s statement “irresponsible and an act of sabotage” which should never be uttered by any PH member.
“PPBM urges the coalition members of PH to be ethical and disciplined. They should respect each other to maintain harmony among the parties.
“We welcome Loke’s statement to refer Liu to the party’s disciplinary committee,” Radzi, who is also deputy economic affairs minister, said in a statement.
Liu, in a statement, had cautioned Mahathir, who is PPBM chairman, against making remarks that are not in line with PH’s values.
He claimed the prime minister was pushing for a dominant Malay-based party to control the coalition, citing the acceptance of former Umno politicians into PPBM.
The Sungai Pelek assemblyman also hit out at Mahathir over the continuation of laws which he termed as repressive, the decision not to deport controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik back to India, and the failure to specify a date to hand over power to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim. - FMT
