Ramasamy to be quizzed by police over article on Rawang shooting

Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy has been summoned to Bukit Aman over an article in a news portal questioning the police over a shooting incident near Rawang where three men were shot dead.
In a statement to the media, Ramasamy said he received a call on his mobile phone from the Bukit Aman D5 criminal investigation unit on Oct 9.
His private secretary Edreena Kaur then spoke to one "Inspector Idaasstuti" and fixed Oct 21 for him to visit Bukit Aman.
"The inspector said they want to question me over the article published on portal Malaysian Gazette on Sept 17, written by Kasthuri Jeevendran," he said.

The article titled "Kerajaan baharu tapi polis masih pada takuk ‘lama’ – Ramasamy” (New government but police is still from the old regime) referred to a shooting incident between the police and three suspects.
The incident took place in Rawang, a week before the report was published.
One of the suspects shot dead, was a permanent resident in the UK, who came for a short visit to Malaysia while his wife is still missing.
"There were too many cases of shootings involving police where the deaths were explained based only on statements issued by the police," Ramasamy was quoted as saying on his Facebook.
In an article in Malaysiakini on Sept 20, Ramasamy said he was concerned about the police taking the law into their own hands and acting as "law enforcers, judges and executioners" at the same time.
“No one is deemed a criminal, unless, of course, proven in the court of law.
“Police are there to ensure that citizens are law-abiding.
"If they break the law, it is up to the police through the office of the Attorney-General’s Chambers to prosecute them,” he had said. - Mkini
