Syed Husin may not know how Cabinet meetings are held, says Zuraida

PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin.
SUBANG JAYA: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin today dismissed a political veteran’s claim that Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders have been stifled by Dr Mahathir Mohamad, saying all Cabinet decisions are made on a consensual basis.
“We exhaust our views,” she told reporters after an event at Monash University here.
She was responding to Syed Husin Ali, a founding leader of PKR following the merger of Parti Keadilan Nasional and Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
Using the analogy of a bonsai plant, the 83-year-old recently said the people had been asking if leaders such as Anwar Ibrahim, Muhyiddin Yassin, Mohamad Sabu and Lim Kit Siang have been stymied by Mahathir.
Calling Mahathir a sly leader who was “skilled at twisting facts”, he asked if the leaders would allow the people to be deceived.
However, Zuraida said Syed Husin might be unaware of how Cabinet meetings are held.
She also questioned his use of a bonsai plant to illustrate his point.
“I thought (his analogy) of a bonsai plant was for something that is very steady or productive and stable.
“So (he may be using) the wrong analogy,” she said.
While on a trip to New York last week, Mahathir said he would step down in three years at the most.
However, Syed Husin remained sceptical, saying: “Mahathir… sometimes he says this, other times he says that.
“I cannot hold him to his word.” - FMT
