Umno may send representatives to attend the Malay Dignity Congress that would be held in Shah Alam on Sunday.
Malaysiakini is made to understand that Umno has held a meeting today where the decision was made.
“Umno is highly likely to send several representatives, including a senior leader to the congress.
“The decision was made during a meeting today. Umno has chosen to be magnanimous for the sake of the interests of the Malay people,” a source said when contacted.
It is understood that Umno would announce the decision soon, possibly after its supreme council meeting tomorrow.
PAS has already announced on Oct 1 that it would attend the Malay Dignity Congress which would be officiated by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
According to its secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, PAS would be represented by its party president Abdul Hadi Awang.
“PAS has accepted an invitation from the organisers to attend the Malay Dignity Congress scheduled to take place on Oct 6,” he said in a brief statement today.
The congress is organised by four public universities, namely Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Putra Malaysia and the Sultan Idris Education University. - Mkini
