We can take action against you, Sabah PKR warns Rahimah

Sabah PKR women’s chief Rahimah Majid has criticised the Sabah government for ignoring the court decision over the state water chief’s appointment.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR today refuted the claim by its women’s chief Rahimah Majid that the chapter had no recourse in the party constitution to penalise members who had gone out of line.

Sabah PKR disciplinary bureau head Sazalye Donol said although the state body comes under the party’s Central Executive Council, there are still provisions under the party’s constitution (Clause 41) that allows it to take action against her.

He said the central disciplinary board can authorise any party to assist in its functions and the state council can file a written complaint against her to the top leaders.

“As a party comrade, I hope that Rahimah would be rational in order to preserve the party’s image as part of the state government coalition.

Rahimah had earlier claimed that the state chapter has no authority to penalise her and only the Central Executive Council could do so.

She also defended her criticism of the state government for keeping Amarjit Singh as the state Water Department director even after a High Court judge had declared that his appointment contravened Section 3 (2) of the Sabah Water Supply Enactment 2003.

Section 3 (2) states that only those from the public sector can be promoted to a senior position in the agency.

Amarjit, a Warisan party member, is a trained water engineer who came from private practice previously.

Donol also warned party members against using the mainstream media or social media to defy the party’s constitution, ethical code and leadership as action would be taken against them. - FMT
