BERA: The claim that one vote for Barisan Nasional (BN) means giving a vote for Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to become prime minister is merely a perception being created by the opposition for the general election (GE15), says Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The prime minister said until now there had been no change involving the prime ministerial candidate from BN after GE15.
“I also heard about that, but I corrected that perception yesterday.
“The opposition only wants to create this perception during their campaign.
“The Umno Supreme Council and general assembly have already decided on the matter.
“If you want to change the decision, it must be done by the Supreme Council and the general assembly.
“So, what has been decided still stands,” he told reporters after a community programme here today.
Ismail, who is also Umno vice-president, said this when asked to comment on the allegation that is being used by the opposition in its social media campaign.
Previously, Zahid was also reported to have said that Ismail remained BN’s poster boy and candidate for the post of prime minister, with the coalition’s stand on the matter not changing if BN succeeds in governing the country. - FMT
