PAPAR: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Hajiji Noor has sought to give an assurance that action will be taken against Bersatu’s Rubin Balang if he was behind the clash between GRS and Barisan Nasional (BN) in Tenom.
Hajiji said he would probe if Rubin, the Kemabong assemblyman, was really behind this contest.
Rubin’s son, Riduan, is going against BN in Tenom as an independent candidate, but joined Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) yesterday.
“I have to ask for a report on the matter first.
“Although Rubin was seen with his son in a picture, he might not be campaigning for him. We have to be fair to everyone.
“But if he’s blatantly supporting his son, we will take action,” the chief minister told reporters after an event here.
Hajiji, who is also Sabah Bersatu chief, said Rubin was still the Tenom division chief, but Riduan had quit the party prior to contesting as an independent candidate.
Yesterday, Sabah BN chief Bung Moktar Radin urged Hajiji to act against Rubin, accusing the latter of breaching the electoral pact between BN and GRS.
Bung also claimed Rubin was behind his son’s entry into KDM.
KDM, led by former Warisan vice-president Peter Anthony is a pro-GRS party. Under the BN-GRS political pact, the Tenom seat is to be contested by BN. - FMT
