BN’s decision likely tomorrow, says Vigneswaran

MIC president SA Vigneswaran dismissed queries pertaining to MIC’s position between PN and PH, saying it will follow the decision made by the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme Council has concluded its meeting this afternoon, though it has yet to reach a decision on who to cooperate with in forming the government.

MIC president SA Vigneswaran said BN will consider forming the government with either Perikatan Nasional (PN) or Pakatan Harapan (PH), adding that a decision will likely be made tomorrow.

He dismissed queries on what MIC’s position was between the two coalitions, saying the party will follow the BN Supreme Council’s decision.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong echoed Vigneswaran, saying all possibilities are being considered by BN’s top leadership.

“We will come to a decision together tomorrow,” he told reporters when met at the Umno headquarters today.

Earlier, FMT reported that several BN leaders arrived here for a BN Supreme Council meeting at 2pm to discuss cooperation with other coalitions to form the government.

Previously, BN MPs joined coalition chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the Seri Pacific hotel for a meeting.

Pakatan Harapan leaders were also present, with representatives from both coalitions holding discussions on forming the federal government.

At a press conference, Zahid said all BN MPs will follow the Supreme Council’s decision on the formation of the government.

He said any statutory declarations (SD) signed by BN MPs before this were invalid.

Meanwhile, the King has given party leaders and heads of coalitions a one-day extension of the deadline to propose their prime ministerial candidate. They have until 2pm tomorrow to submit the name of a preferred candidate. - FMT
