PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating the vandalism of former Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s campaign material in TTDI and Bandar Utama following the lodging of a complaint yesterday.

Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the case has been classified under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and causing loss or damage.

The offence carries a jail term of one to five years or a fine or both upon conviction.

“The police would like to remind everyone to refrain from acts of provocation that could disrupt the democratic process of the country during the general election,” Amihizam said in a statement.

He urged members of political parties to keep the behaviour of their supporters in check to ensure that their conduct remained within the rule of law.

Amihizam said any information regarding misconduct throughout the election campaign period could be channelled to the Brickfields police hotline at 03 2297 9222, Kuala Lumpur police hotline (03 2115 9999) or the nearest police station. - FMT
