Covid-19 (Nov 18): 3,037 new cases, 5 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 3,037 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 4,963,216.

Active cases currently stood at 27,711, down 24.2 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (1,237)
Sabah (205)
Malacca (200)
Penang (186)
Kuala Lumpur (185)
Kedah (158)
Negeri Sembilan (152)
Putrajaya (122)
Perak (117)
Sarawak (114)
Kelantan (109)
Pahang (94)
Terengganu (71)
Johor (62)
Labuan (16)
Perlis (9)


Another five deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which two were declared as "brought in dead".

Over the past week, an average of 7.3 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 5.3, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,588 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

The state with the highest death was Penang (2) followed by Johor (1), Sabah (1) and Terengganu (1).


There are 1,868 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 106 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (169) followed by Sabah (122) and Perak (79). - Mkini
