Volunteers needed to sort 30k postal ballots

9am: Kuala Lumpur - VoteMalaysia is seeking more volunteers to help sort some 30,000 postal ballots which have been carried on passenger flights to Malaysia.

The postal ballots are being sorted by constituency at the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, with VoteMalaysia intending to complete sorting by 3pm today.

The ballots will then be distributed to runners, who will send them to the respective returning officers.

Volunteers at KLSCAH have been operating for 24 hours.

“Our VoteMalaysia volunteers need you! Have some free time today? Come to KLSCAH in Kuala Lumpur and help us sort the postal ballots! We need backup!” they say.

‘Najib should spend time in prison praying, recite Quran’

7.30am: Cheras, Kuala Lumpur: Jailed former prime minister Najib Razak should use his time in prison to be closer to God, according to opposition chief Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan ceramah in Cheras last night, he said by doing so Najib would hopefully turn into a good person when he gets released.

“I suggest that Najib spends his time reading books, ‘wirid’ a lot, memorise the Quran.

“Hopefully he will be a good person after his release.

“But still, you must return the money you had taken,” Anwar told the audience.

Thousands brave rain in Batu Kawan Harapan ceramah

7am: Batu Kawan, Penang - A 100m-long canopy set up at the Juru pasar malam site was full of Pakatan Harapan supporters last night as over a thousand people braved the rain to listen to speeches of their favourite political leaders at a mega ceramah.

Some supporters appeared soaked by the downpour that began at 8pm, but this failed to dampen their spirits.

Muda Kepala Batas candidate Danial Majeed, former Balik Pulau MP Ismadi Yusof, and Harapan candidates for Tasek Gelugor (Nik Abdul Razak Nik Md Ridzuan), Bukit Gelugor (Ramkarpal Singh), Balik Pulau (Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik), DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng and Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow were among the speakers who kept the crowd stitched until the end of the ceremah.

The speakers appealed to the crowd to come out in full force to vote and return Harapan to Putrajaya.
