Reject traitor Kamarudin, Anwar urges Bandar Tun Razak voters

GE15 | In a fiery speech at Tasik Permaisuri in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, Pakatan Harapan chairperson Anwar Ibrahim called on all Bandar Tun Razak voters to punish their incumbent MP Kamarudin Jaffar when voting for the general election tomorrow.

During the ceramah session thronged by some 3,000 people, the PKR president said voters should kick out the Bersatu MP for betraying their mandate after being voted into the position in 2018.

"All the people here, the majority from the bottom class and struggling to survive, had supported us, supported Reformasi and fought for our cause (in 2018).

"But then this one person, Kamarudin (above), he was voted in (by the people), but he betrayed all of us.

'There is only one answer to this - we kick him out! Do not give him any chance!" Anwar said to loud cheers from the ceramah crowd.

Kamarudin, who used to be with PKR,  won the Bandar Tun Razak seat in 2018 on the party's ticket.

During the Sheraton Move political coup in 2020, which led to the collapse of the then Pakatan Harapan government, Kamaruddin defected to Bersatu.

Kamarudin to battle PKR, BN

Kamarudin is defending the seat in this GE15 against former PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is Anwar's wife, and BN's Chew Yin Keen.

In his speech, Anwar also took a swipe at Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, a former PKR vice-president who had also defected from the party in 2020.

Zuarida was seen trying to woo voters on the roadside in Ampang two days ago.

"I thought she was trying to sell something," Anwar said in jest, to the amusement of the audience.

"This is a minister. That is what happened to a traitor."

Defending Harapan's multiracial approach

Anwar then centred his speech on responding to critics who had been training their guns on Harapan's multiracial approach.

The PKR president said he would not be apologetic nor defensive of the idea.

"If you want me to lead this country, I will defend the Malays and their rights.

"I will also defend the rights of the Chinese and Indians. I will defend the rights of Sabahans and Sarawakians.

"And if for this you want to call me a communist, then you can go to hell!"

The Pakatan Harapan chairperson also took a swipe at Perikatan Nasional over a PAS leader's recent remarks that whoever votes for Pakatan Harapan or BN would go to hell.

On this, Anwar said he would like to ask the coalition if it also means that PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin and its election director Azmin Ali would go to hell, too, since they are not members of the Islamist party. - Mkini
