DEFEATING UMNO IN GE15

OSTB : Folks I received this from someone. Bukan saya tulis. But I am posting it. Its an interesting read. I have some comments at the end.

A General Election provides voters with their opportunity to express their  approval or disapproval of the performance of the coalition or party which governed  over them the previous 4 or 5 years. Hence, elections serve as a referendum on  their rule: an audit or report card on governance.

On the surface, this may seem  problematic for Malaysians in GE15 because we have had 3 Governments in 4½  years: in stark contrast to 61 years of continued, unbroken rule by one coalition. A  closer scrutiny, even by voters with the minimum of knowledge of the events  between May 2018 and November 2022, will however establish that UMNO’s role  throughout this period was of fundamental significance.

Thus, it is the conduct of  UMNO that must be the acid test for every voter in GE15.

UMNO’s actions since GE14

From the moment the Pakatan Harapan coalition took power after GE14, UMNO began undermining it. Many leaders of UMNO believe they are entitled to rule Malaysia in perpetuity, and that elections are merely held periodically to ratify or confirm their natural place as the dominant political organisation in the country.

Playing second fiddle or being in opposition are anathema to UMNO's hubris. Thus, these leaders played on the insecurities of their supporters and fellow travellers after GE14. It must never be forgotten that UMNO was established in 1946 to represent Malay opposition to the Malayan Union plan of the British imperialist power.

The call in 1951 by its founding President, Onn Jaafar, to open up membership of the party to non-Malays was rejected, and he resigned. MCA and MIC were established in a similar fashion: each of the 3 parties was to represent the 3 races in the Alliance Coalition. Thus race based parties have been the singular, fundamentally distinct feature of Malaya’s political life since the 2nd World War. UMNO, post-May 2018, exploited fissures in our public life based on racial and religious grounds; falsely frightening the majority race that the PH Government was dominated by DAP.

Just 4 major incidents need to be recalled. UMNO convinced the right wing forces to oppose proposals by the PH Government to ratify the Rome Statute and ICERD. The Malay Dignity Conference was organised and given much publicity, with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir in attendance.

Finally, the Sheraton move during the 21-23 February 2020 weekend. Much party defections had already occurred by this period, and although superficially and numerically Bersatu under  Tun Mahathir’s leadership seemed stronger than at the time of GE14, many of the  defectors defected again causing turbulence. Whatever his motives were, Tun Dr  Mahathir resigned, together with the PH Government, on 24th February 2020.

Even if the next administration was led by Muhyiddin Yassin as Bersatu leader, UMNO played a significant role. Being dissatisfied that the Prime Minister was not from UMNO, more turbulence was caused by UMNO which resulted in the 3rd administration, this time led by UMNO’s senior Vice-President. Accordingly, the  totality of UMNO’s actions in destabilising 2 governments, and governing as the de facto federal government for at least 1 year prior to the calling of GE15 must be judged as a whole by the electorate.

UMNO’s track record as member of Government

The performance of the UMNO government that selfishly and irresponsibly sought the dissolution of Parliament and the holding of GE15 during the monsoon and flood season is dismal, even by the lowest standards of governance. Its mismanagement of the economy has made millions of Malaysians poorer, with their salaries and wages remaining unacceptably low in an environment where cost of living has ballooned. Inflation has been rampant, and the rapid decline of the Ringgit against the US Dollar (even if a worldwide trend) has resulted in imported inflation because of our dependence on imported food and other basic items. Savings in the EPF accounts of millions of Malaysians have depleted ̶ trading consumption for savings after retirement.

Our national debt has sky-rocked. As at the end of June 3 2022, the total debt of the Federal Government had increased to RM1.4 trillion, representing nearly 83% of GDP. One can go on multiplying the disastrous financial and economic policies of UMNO. Next, the cancer of corruption which has grown exponentially after March 2020. What has gone the other direction is democratic space which has shrunk with the climate of fear slowly returning. All these features of life in Malaysia today are the consequences of UMNO’s policies. UMNO has been judged, and found wanting.

Z..d as UMNO’s Prime Minister

In addition to these glaring flaws, there is a critical reason for voting UMNO out: an UMNO victory at the polls will definitely result in the appointment of Z...d as Prime Minister. Malaysians must be under no illusions. Voters must not believe the lies that UMNO leaders constantly peddle, namely, that Ismail Sabri will become Prime Minister if UMNO prevails. Recall what occurred just a year ago after the Johore State Elections.

More importantly, Z...d is terribly concerned about the criminal case of corruption pending against him in the High Court at Kuala Lumpur. His defence has been called, and he is worried about a conviction. Z...d wants to avoid the fate of his predecessor.

Jail term can only be prevented by:

(i) an UMNO victory at the polls;
(ii) Z...d’s appointment as Prime Minister;
(iii) Z...d appointing a pliable Attorney General; and
(iv) the dropping of all charges by the Attorney General pending
against Z...d.

Voters must not be naïve, gullible or trusting in the good intentions of public statements. Instead, voters must realise why Z...d was pressing Ismail Sabri for over 6 months to call for elections, followed by his choice of candidates. Z...d’s personal predicament and self-interest have become UMNO’s priorities. He will exercise his prerogative to become Prime Minister. Only the voters stand in their way. I humbly and respectfully urge voters to take the right decision ꟷ vote by the millions to reject UMNO, so that Malaysia is saved.

My Comments  :

I see it this way - ALL the prime ministers so far have been UMNO. Despite Bersatu, Dr M is still UMNO. Likewise Tan Sri Muhyiddin is still UMNO. Bersatu is just a faction from UMNO. Tomorrow they can kiss and make up.

The front runners to become the next PM (after GE15) are also ALL Umno or ex UMNO, including the Brader.  The Brader was in UMNO for 16 years and until today he has his supporters in UMNO including the party president - who is perhaps his strongest supporter on the surface of the earth.

Pasir Salak revealed it point blank that the Kajang Inmate and the president both signed that letter supporting the Brader to be prime minister.   One way or another they are ALL Umno.

But there is a much bigger problem. Najib not only lost the elections but he is now in jail. For stealing public funds.

Then Dr Mahathir re-appeared. Dr Mahathir will go down in history as rising from the ashes after a 15 year retirement (in 2003) to becoming prime minister again in 2018 and then getting kicked out of office by his own closest partners just  22 months later in 2020. He also lost another very close supporter, me Syed Akbar Ali. I have known Dr Mahathir personally since 2000. He wants to be PM again.

Dr Mahathir was replaced by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who was in office for 17 months before he too got kicked out by his  coalition partners.  Despite all the name calling Tan Sri Muhyiddin was the only PM who did not have too much mud sticking to him. Plus he has a wife who is an asset to him. She is low key and people hardly know her. And he is now Chairman of Perikatan Nasional.  He too wants to be PM.

After Tan Sri Muhyiddin, the next prime minister Ismail Sabri was a shoe horn, a back stop, a door stop, a pot holder, a table runner or whatever. He is gone.  To his credit no one knows his wife either.  There is no chance of Ismail Sabri becoming PM again.

The other wannabe prime minister is also facing corruption charges in Court. His defense has been called. If he loses the elections, he will possibly go to jail. He is literally fighting for his life. If he becomes PM this country might come to a quick end.

Across the aisle the Brader also wants to be PM. He was pardoned of all his crimes just a few years ago - in a lightning quick pardons process that has been challenged in the Court. If he becomes PM, believe me the FOREIGN MEDIA will dig up his past.  Especially media like The Economist in the UK. Do not be surprised. The West are hypocrites and they will be nasty.  It will be a constant series of embarrassments for the country.

So these are the has beens and the wannabe prime ministers of this country.  One way or another the whole lot of them are UMNO linked.

From representing the Malays (the story of the most highly regarded Dato Onn Jaafar - the founder of UMNO in 1946) the UMNO party has evolved to represent civilisational weakness.

UMNO is now synonymous with backwardness, racism, religious frankensteinism, laziness, corruption and stupidity. And sucking the country dry.

Yes it is time to drive that wooden stake right through their heart. Permanently.
