Don’t be duped by PN’s ‘stable and clean’ narrative, Zahid tells voters

Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Bersatu had duped PAS into breaking up Muafakat Nasional.

PETALING JAYA: Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the Malay electorate should not be fooled by Perikatan Nasional’s narrative that it is “stable and clean”, adding that there are several leaders in the coalition who are mired in scandal.

In what is believed to be a jab at Bersatu and PAS, the Umno president said some of these leaders were hiding behind the supposed Islamic facade of one of the coalition’s components.

“Voting for PN does not mean voting for a party that claims to be Islamic, but it will be a vote for Bersatu,” he said in a Facebook post tonight.

Zahid also questioned PN’s claim of being a stable and clean coalition as many of its leaders were “frogs” from Bersatu who had betrayed the people following the last general election.

Bersatu had in 2020 quit Pakatan Harapan, the then ruling coalition, leading to the collapse of the PH government.

Zahid said Bersatu was in cahoots with PH for 22 months and this led to instability.

“Only after they realised that they lost the support of the people, especially the Malays, did they ditch PH.”

Zahid also rubbished Bersatu’s claim that it left PH because of DAP.

“It’s not as if they did not know who DAP was.”

Zahid also claimed that Bersatu had duped PAS into breaking up Muafakat Nasional, the political pact forged by Umno and the Islamic party in 2019.

“Forming PN and trying to coax Umno to join them on grounds of Muslim unity was meant to kill off Umno.”

Zahid said although BN was not perfect, it was still the coalition that could guarantee stability and prosperity. - FMT
