End career of ‘father of traitors’ Azmin, says Fahmi

 

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said PH still had a lot of work to do if it won the polls since its initial tenure in government was cut short.

GOMBAK: PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil has called on Gombak voters to finish off the career of their ex-MP Azmin Ali, one of the key figures behind the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in 2020.

“Azmin Ali, how are you? It is here (in Gombak that) we will end the political career of the father of all traitors.

“You have to end the career of this big traitor,” he said at a PH ceramah here tonight, drawing roars of support and applause from the crowd of about 3,000 people.

While PH had toppled Barisan Nasional in the 2018 general election, Fahmi reminded those present that the opposition coalition still had a lot of work to do if it won the polls since its initial tenure in government was cut short.

“But we are here again and we will bring down BN. We will also topple Perikatan Nasional, and we will make PH chairman and (PKR president) Anwar Ibrahim the 10th prime minister of Malaysia,” said Fahmi, prompting cheers from the crowd.

Azmin was among the 11 PKR MPs who shifted their allegiance to Bersatu in February 2020 in what has come to be known as the Sheraton Move.

The former PKR deputy president and the party’s former vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin were sacked over their involvement in the Sheraton Move, while the other nine MPs quit PKR.

Azmin, the international trade and industry minister, is now defending his parliamentary seat for a fourth term under the PN banner.

He is in a five-way fight for the seat against PH’s Amirudin Shari, BN’s Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, Pejuang’s Aziz Jamaludin Tahir, and independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad.

Taking to the stage after Fahmi, DAP Youth chief Dr Kelvin Yii quipped that he had come all the way from Sarawak just to see Azmin lose his seat.

“People of Gombak, are you ready for change? Are you ready to put an end to this traitor’s political career?” he asked, drawing shouts of affirmation from the crowd.

However, the former Bandar Kuching MP said it was not enough for Azmin to lose, adding that the Umno-led BN must also be defeated at the polls. - FMT
