I'm still alive and want to help, Ku Nan reacts to 'Jurassic Park' jibe

GE15 | BN’s candidate for the Putrajaya seat Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has told his opponents to compete in an honourable manner instead of resorting to slander, noting that the latest allegation is that he is dishing out RM300 to outstation voters.

The 71-year-old Umno politician also referred to videos that mocked his age.

“I am certain more slander will be hurled. I have watched videos in which I am slandered… apparently, I am ‘Jurassic Park’, I am old. But never mind, I am still alive and want to help my country, religion and race,” Tengku Adnan was quoted as saying in Umno Online.

As for the alleged RM300 bribe, the former federal territories minister said he would not do such a thing and furthermore, it was against the law.

“This is slander. I did not do so. If you want to compete, compete. Don’t slander. We do it through campaigning. I hope they stop this kind of slander.

“I won’t give money because it is an offence under the Election Offences Act (1954). I am not sure what is the motive of the ‘tribe’ on the other side (in making such allegations),” he added.

Yesterday, Tengku Adnan, who is popularly known as Ku Nan, lodged a report with the Putrajaya district police headquarters on the matter.

Previously, he lodged a police report after some of his campaign material was vandalised.

Expressing disappointment, Tengku Adnan said this did not happen during the previous four elections.

The veteran politician will be defending his Putrajaya parliamentary seat against five opponents on Nov 19. They are Radzi Jidin (Perikatan Nasional), Mohd Rosli Ramli (Pejuang), Dr Noraishah Mydin Abdul Aziz (Pakatan Harapan) as well as independent candidates Lim Fice Bee and Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi.

Tengku Adnan once made headlines when he told the High Court in Kuala Lumpur that RM2 million was like “pocket money” for him during his trial for a corruption case.

He was also livid when questioned in court on the asset declarations he made during his time as a cabinet member.

Last July, the Court of Appeal acquitted him over the RM2 million that entered into a company account that he controls. - Mkini
