KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has lodged a police report against Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin over his claim that PH was involved in an agenda to “Christianise” the country.

The report was lodged by PH strategic director Bryan Ng and PKR Youth communications director Syaril Showkat Ali at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.

In his police report, Ng said the excerpt of Muhyiddin’s speech at a ceramah recently had gone viral on TikTok. The former prime minister is believed to have made the allegation at a ceramah event in Parit Jawa, Johor, on Nov 16.

“Muhyiddin had remarked that voting for PH is dangerous because PH sponsors a Jewish movement and that there was also a Christianisation (agenda) in Malaysia,” his report stated.

Ng said Muhyiddin’s remark was a slanderous and baseless accusation that had touched on religious sensitivities.

In a press conference outside the police headquarters, Ng urged Muhyiddin to provide evidence to the police if it was true that PH was linked to such a movement.

He also did not rule out the possibility of filing a civil suit against Muhyiddin.

In a recording of a ceramah in Johor on Thursday, Muhyiddin claimed a group of Jews want PH to win tomorrow’s elections, and alleged that PH was working with Jews and Christians to “colonise” the country.

In the recording which has gone viral, the former prime minister also claimed that there were Malays attending church services in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.

The Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM) slammed Muhyiddin over his statement, while PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the party plans to file an election petition against Muhyiddin. - FMT
