Rafizi: Harapan can cross the 100-mark soon

GE15 | With just five days to go before polling, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has projected that Pakatan Harapan has 90 seats in the bag and was well on its way to crossing the 100 mark.

Speaking at a ceramah in Balik Pulau, Penang, yesterday, Rafizi, who owns the market research company Invoke, said BN, on the other hand, had only secured 40 seats.

“In our strongholds of Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Negeri Sembilan, we will win big.

“Our frontline state of Perak is also seeing a surge in support, particularly among Malay voters,” he said.

Rafizi expressed confidence that Harapan will take Perak while retaining most of its seats in Malacca and Johor.

On Nov 5, Invoke had projected that Harapan was likely to win 80 seats.

Addressing a crowd of 500 in attendance, in spite of the rain, Rafizi urged Umno supporters to let their party taste defeat in order for the party to truly reform.

“If there are people among you who are with Umno, I want to say this: The best thing for Umno is defeat during this election.

“When Umno is defeated, it will give them the opportunity to give (Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi) and his ilk the boot.

“Lose the election and get rid of Najib (Abdul Razak’s) allies who are only concerned about money and stoking racism.

“After one or two terms, if Umno truly repents, God willing, the people will give Umno a chance (to govern) again,” he said.

‘Rakyat are with Harapan again’

Rafizi said Harapan has learned a bitter lesson from its defeat during the Malacca and Johor state elections. He said the coalition had heard the voices of the voters and made changes.

“I can now say that the rakyat are with Harapan again. God willing, we will be in Putrajaya.

Rafizi said Umno’s main strategy against Harapan was to attack the latter’s 22-month rule. However, Rafizi said voters are capable of comparing the Harapan administration with the two subsequent administrations.

Moreover, he said, voters were also now aware that Harapan’s shortcomings in the past were also due to sabotage by Bersatu.

“People can tell that the 22 months were not truly a Harapan government.

“People can see that in states where Harapan has been governing without Bersatu, everything is going well,” he said.

Rafizi was in Balik Pulau to stump for incumbent MP Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik.

Bakhtiar is being challenged by BN’s Shah Headan Ayoob Syah, Perikatan Nasional’s Harris Idaham Rashid, Pejuang’s Fazli Mohammad and Independent Sabaruddin Ahmad. - Mkini
