KOTA KINABALU: Relations between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) are still good, despite Bung Moktar Radin’s claim that GRS “declared war” against them.
The state BN chairman admitted that he was a little emotional when making the allegation, but considered it normal in politics.
“Politics is like that, sometimes we have to face something, a little emotional (when stating that GRS declared war against BN).
“However, everything is going well (BN-GRS relationship), we in Umno, BN are always big-hearted,” he said after the state government tabled the 2023 Sabah budget at the state assembly.
Bung had criticised GRS chairman Hajiji Noor on Monday for the coalition’s decision to support Muhyiddin Yassin for nomination as prime minister. Bung described the decision as one declaring war on Sabah BN.
However Hajiji said the electoral pact between GRS and BN was no longer valid as BN suffered a defeat in the general election on Nov 19.
He hoped that Sabah BN was willing to continue cooperation with GRS in the Sabah state government in maintaining the momentum of their joint administration.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had confirmed that GRS was part of the coalition government that he leads.
Bung welcomed the participation of GRS in Anwar’s government. “It’s called a unity government, so everyone can join it. So, I welcome any party that wants to join this government,” he said. - FMT
