KOTA KINABALU, Nov 25 — All seven Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) state assemblymen today expressed their support for Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as chief minister, and stated their commitment to work with the latter until the state assembly term ends in 2025.
United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) vice president Datuk Ewon Benedick said all of them were also ready to work with the state government to achieve the state’s development agenda and to fight for its rights.
“For me and the Sabah PH assemblyman, we do not want too much politics, where it could affect the stability of the government (and) at the federal level, we have formed a unity government, and the same approach can be implemented in Sabah.
“The Sabah PH assemblymen welcome the support of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the unity government,” he said in a statement here today.
Earlier, Ewon who is also the Kadamaian assemblyman, led a group of Sabah PH assemblymen to pay a courtesy call on Hajiji at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly. The others present were Phoong Jin Zhe (DAP-Luyang), Jannie Lasimbang (DAP-Kepayan), Tan Lee Fatt (DAP-Likas), Pito Galim (PKR-Inanam) and Christina Liew (PKR-Api Api), while Poon Ming Fung (DAP-Tanjung Papat), was absent.
Ewon also thanked Hajiji for agreeing to involve PH assemblymen in the District Action Committee and District Land Use Committee meetings beginning next year.
Meanwhile, the Penampang MP hoped that there would be a Sabah PH representative in the federal Cabinet to enable PH’s special “Kita Boleh” offer as announced during the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign period to be implemented in the state.
“With regard to Upko, we have informed the leadership of the recommendation from Upko regarding its involvement in the federal government,” he said. — Bernama
