PETALING JAYA: Pahang Barisan Nasional chief Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail will be reappointed as Pahang menteri besar to head the state’s BN-Pakatan Harapan government.
A statement from the Pahang palace said the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, consented to Wan Rosdy’s appointment as menteri besar. He will be sworn in at 11am tomorrow.
Last Saturday’s Pahang state elections saw no coalition secure the 21 seats needed for a simple majority in the state legislative assembly.
Perikatan Nasional won 17 seats while BN claimed 16 and PH eight.
Yesterday, Pahang PH said it had unanimously agreed to form the state government with BN.
“We hope that the new Pahang state government can be formed to ensure the administration of the state runs smoothly,” said Pahang PH chairman Amirudin Shari.
Earlier today, Pahang PN chairman Saifuddin Abdullah hit out at a “greedy” BN for making unreasonable demands during talks on the formation of the state government.
He said that despite winning fewer seats, BN had demanded the menteri besar’s post and most of the executive councillor’s posts.
“BN demanded to be given the menteri besar’s post and seven executive councillor’s posts, leaving only one executive councillor’s post for PN. This is despite BN being in the minority,” he said in a Facebook post. - FMT
