Wee: I wasn't consulted on the forming of Perak's new coalition govt

MCA president and Ayer Hitam MP Wee Ka Siong said he was never consulted or informed about the Pakatan Harapan and BN joining forces to form the Perak state government.

In a Facebook post, the BN vice-chairperson said that this matter was never discussed by the BN supreme council.

"In fact, the BN supreme council meeting has not yet been held after GE15," he said.

Earlier, Malaysiakini quoted several sources, including Perak PKR chief Chang Lih Kang, as well as a Perak palace spokesperson, on this Harapan-BN deal.

The Perak State Legislative Assembly was hung after the 15th general election. PN won 26 seats, Harapan 24, and BN nine. A minimum of 30 seats are needed to form the state government as the state assembly has 59 seats in total.

Perak palace spokesperson Annuar Zaini revealed that despite Harapan's more seats in the state, it agreed to back incumbent menteri besar Saarani Mohamad to retake his office. Saarani is due to be sworn in later this evening.

It was reported that Pahang BN and Pakatan Harapan are on course to form the Pahang state government.

‘Decision had already been made’

Sources from Pahang DAP - which has six state seats - informed Malaysiakini that a decision had already been made and an official statement would be released soon.

Meanwhile, in a separate post, Wee denied meeting Harapan MPs at the Seri Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

"I stress that there was no meeting between BN and Harapan MPs when I was there from 10am to noon.

"What is certain is that I only attended a meeting between the BN MPs and the BN chairperson," Wee said on his Facebook page.

He added that BN can only make decisions for its MPs through the BN supreme council.

Wee said he was surprised to see Harapan MPs at the hotel and that he did not know if it was by design or a coincidence.

BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, along with several representatives, had met with Harapan leaders at the hotel earlier this morning.

Zahid indicated that the MPs are bound by rules to act in accordance with the decision of the BN supreme council. It is uncertain when the BN supreme council will meet. - Mkini
