Hadi's son-in-law: I'm ready to face disciplinary board

Zaharudin Muhammad, the son-in-law of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, said he is prepared to face the party's disciplinary board over his allegations that there were efforts by certain quarters out to sabotage the Islamist party.

NONEZaharudin (left) was responding to lawyer and life-long PAS member Zulhazmi Shariff's complaint against him.

Zulhazmi wants Zaharudin to produce evidence to the disciplinary board to back his claim.

However, Zaharudin claimed that the complaint did not follow proper procedure.

"These two days, I have received several calls from journalists. They want my response to a lawyer named Zulhazmi who supposedly made a disciplinary complaint. The complaint did not follow procedure therefore there is no need for me to respond.

"However, if there is a valid disciplinary complaint referring to me, god willing, I am prepared to come forward with the evidence that I have stated before, on condition that action must be taken," he said in a Facebook posting last night.
'Backbone of PAS'
Zaharudin, who is a member of the PAS Syura Council, had previously professed himself as the backbone of PAS and out to protect the party's leadership against quarters who want to undermine them.

He had also claimed that he possessed proof of such alleged party saboteurs.

On Friday, Zulhazmi had asked that Zaharudin be probed under Article 82(1)(g) of the PAS constitution for actions against the party's interest.

He had said that the disciplinary board must verify Zaharudin's claim.

But if it is proven untrue, action should be taken against him for tarnishing the party's reputation in the eyes of the public.

Zaharudin had been fingered as the person behind Abdul Hadi's decision in fielding a PAS candidate in the state seat of Kota Damansara against ally PKR, which ultimately led to BN's victory.

Malaysiakini has contacted PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali about the disciplinary complaint and is awaiting his response.
