Further probe needed on 1MDB report, says PAC deputy chairperson

DAP vice-chairperson Dr Tan Seng Giaw today supported calls for further investigations to be conducted on findings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) inquiry into state-owned fund 1MDB.
“We need further investigations on PAC's 1MDB findings,” Tan tweeted today.
“The AG (attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali) orders investigations and the IGP (Khalid Abu Bakar) heads a team to probe. We monitor their action,” said the Kepong MP who is also the PAC deputy chairperson.
Apandi had during a media briefing session yesterday reportedly said he he has called for further investigations into 1MDB.
“On 1MDB, I have already directed further investigations in respect of other personalities that might be involved and I have yet to receive the investigation papers (IPs) pertaining to that directive.
“Up till now they have not come back (to me),” Apandi said.
Khalid had on April 14 announced that he is heading a special investigation task force on 1MDB, based on five recommendations made in the PAC report.
Khalid said the police have opened investigation papers under the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust and cheating.

"We have called in a few people to record their statements, while more will be called in including 1MDB former chief executive officer (Datuk) Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi,” he reportedly said.
The PAC inquiry report was tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on April 7.
Among others, it was stated that 1MDB’s board of directors had failed to fulfil their responsibility and protect the interests of the company and its shareholders.
It also said the directors did not take appropriate action in scrutinising the management's activities and cash flow. -Mkini
