Police have found at least four homemade pipe bombs, at an apartment in Damansara Perdana, Selangor.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Zani Che Din, who was involved in the operations said the bombs were discovered during a raid at the Metropolitan Square Condominium this morning.
"At 4.30am a police team had raided an apartment unit. During the raid the suspect fled, but we found four or five explosive devices.
"Some of it can be said to be improvised explosive devices (IED) [...] They were made with PVC pipes and some of them had circuit boards" Zani told reporters at the apartment today.
He said the suspect was a local, and that records show the apartment had at least two tenants.
The explosives he said, would be detonated.
Zani said police had also found drugs in the apartment.
Earlier resident Hafidz Baharom told Malaysiakini that the residents were told to evacuate at about 9.30am.
"They've evacuated the building, and told everyone it's going to be a few hours while they clear the building of any other devices," Hafidz said. --Mkini
