ONCE IN A WHILE, SEAI KIE HITS BULLSEYE: ALSO PROBE RED SHIRTS JAMAL FOR ISIS LINKS – MCA WOMEN’S CHIEF

PETALING JAYA – MCA wants Bukit Aman to also investigate Red Shirts leader Datuk Jamal Yunos for possible links to the Islamic State (IS) terror group.

Wanita MCA chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie lambasted Jamal for recently claiming that Bersih 2.0 had been infiltrated by IS, and called on the Home Ministry to take appropriate action.

“Moreover, Bukit Aman must also investigate if Jamal Yunos himself has any links with IS or any other terrorist organisations like Al Qaeda, Jemaah Islamiah, whose supporters have been detained in Malaysia.

“If necessary, the Home Ministry must use preventive laws like the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) and Prevention of Terrorism Act 2015 (POTA) on Jamal if Bukit Aman’s findings reveal any terrorist links,” she said in a statement on Saturday.

Heng said Jamal’s wild allegations were alarming as it could spark acts of vigilantism against Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah and other members of the NGO.

She also questioned Jamal’s so-called “reliable source” on Bersih’s purported IS links, saying that he would not be privy to such details as intelligence agencies would not share information on terrorist activities with the general public.

“Other than Bukit Aman’s counter-terrorism unit and international intelligence agencies, the only other ‘reliable sources’ who would have any knowledge on IS operatives’ movements or plans would be existing IS operatives themselves,” she said.

Heng maintained that Wanita MCA rejected Bersih’s demand for the “undemocratic ouster” of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, but defended Maria’s right to safety.

“We are also concerned of the right to safety of Maria Chin, the (Bersih) rally-goers from any potential intimidation and harm from Jamal Yunus, his Red Shirts sidekicks and previously from Mohd Ali Baharom a.k.a Ali Tinju who warned of hounding Maria,” she added.

Jamal, who is Sungai Besar Umno division chief, recently claimed at a press conference that Bersih had been infiltrated by IS, citing information he received from a “reliable source”.

He also claimed that Bersih 2.0 planned to “take over” several strategic locations during its upcoming rally on Nov 19.

His bizarre allegations have been met with strong criticism from both sides of the political divide.
