PUTRAJAYA: Ismail Sabri Yaakob clocked in at the deputy prime minister’s office at Perdana Putra here today to start his duty as the No. 2 in the country’s administration.
Clad in a blue suit, he arrived at the Perdana Putra compound at 10am and was welcomed by chief secretary to the government Mohd Zuki Ali and senior deputy secretary-general of the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Rakon.
Ismail, 61, was appointed the deputy prime minister on Wednesday, while retaining his defence minister’s portfolio. Hishammuddin Hussein was appointed senior minister for security in his place.
After clocking in at his office on Level 4 of the building, Ismail signed the welcome book, following which a prayer, led by integrity officer at the Prime Minister’s Department Muhd Redza Ahmad, was held.
He then attended a National Security Council (MKN) emergency meeting held virtually with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. - FMT
