Korban for Hari Raya Aidiladha allowed under strict SOP

 

Kelantan has allowed the slaughtering of cattle events during Hari Raya Aidiladha this month, albeit under strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK). - NSTP/SHARIFAH MAHSINAH ABDULLAH.

KOTA BARU: Kelantan has allowed the slaughtering of cattle events during Hari Raya Aidiladha this month, albeit under strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK).

MAIK president Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz said the slaughtering of cattle would mainly be allowed at the ruminant slaughterhouses of the Veterinary Services Department (VSD) Abattoir Complex in Kota Baru, Machang and Pasir Mas.

"The activity is also allowed to be carried out in the mosques approved by MAIK. Private slaughtering of cattle is prohibited," said Tengku Mohamad Rizam, who is also Tengku Temenggong Kelantan, in a statement today.

He said no more than 10 people would be allowed to handle the slaughtering of a cow, while a maximum of five for each goat and sheep.

He added that only five animals could be slaughtered at each slaughtering event. - NST
