PETALING JAYA: The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has assured that overcrowding involving foreign workers at vaccination centres (PPV) will not happen again in the future.

This comes after a massive crowd of foreign workers were seen queuing outside the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) vaccination centre yesterday.

In a statement, CITF explained that the overcrowding happened because employers sent their employees not according to the set time, thus causing congestion in the area.

“Many were brought in by their employers in the morning despite their appointments being later in the evening.

“In addition, the failure of foreign workers to fill out forms and download the MySejahtera application caused the process to take a long time.”

CITF said it had also taken some immediate steps to avoid this incident from recurring.

Among others, CITF said it is working with the police to restrict the movement of any vehicle, including buses from outside the Klang Valley, carrying either foreign workers or Malaysians in large numbers to vaccination centres.

“Appointment dates for certain vaccine recipients were also amended to avoid congestion,” CITF said, adding that it was looking forward to the idea of a special PPV exclusively for foreign workers. - FMT
