Take serious view of Tabung Haji under BNM, says PAS

 

Idris Ahmad said Tabung Haji does not just handle pilgrimages, but was also an institution to strengthen the economy of Muslims.

PETALING JAYA: The Cabinet’s decision to place Lembaga Tabung Haji under the purview of Bank Negara Malaysia must be viewed seriously, says PAS.

Vice-president Idris Ahmad stressed that TH was an extremely important institution for Muslims.

“PAS is of the view that any decisions involving this important institution must be carefully looked at by experts and stakeholders of TH,” he was quoted as saying by Harakahdaily.

Idris said this was a crucial move and any action taken should not affect the functions of TH.

He said TH not only handled pilgrimages, but was also an institution to strengthen the economy of Muslims.

In a statement last Thursday, the finance ministry announced that the Cabinet had agreed to list Tabung Haji as a “prescribed Islamic financial institution” under Section 223 of the Islamic Financial Services Act 2013. - FMT
