The Muhyiddin Yassin Coup: Between Reality And Fantasy

Let’s assume it is true that Muhyiddin is on his last leg and that he will leave office before 1st August. Who is going to be PM9? Who will be able to get not less than 111 MPs to support him/her to become PM9? And if Muhyiddin is forced out and no one has enough votes to take over, what is going to happen (based on what the Constitution allows and stipulates)?

NO HOLDS BARRED

Raja Petra Kamarudin

Yes, between reality and fantasy, the two versions of the Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin story. SARAWAK REPORT COMMENT is fantasy while GILA-GILA POLITIK MALAYSIA is reality (READ BOTH PIECES BELOW).

The episode regarding the audience that the political leaders had with Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the special meeting of the Conference of Rulers, and the three press statements issued by Istana Negara, have resulted in the same excitement being demonstrated by England’s fans when their team beat Germany 2-0 two nights ago.

In short, the anti-government team won, while the pro-government team lost (at least they believe so). The referee, His Majesty the Agong, has declared it so. Hence it is 2-0 anti-government versus pro-government, just like it was 2-0 England versus Germany.

Okay, in England’s case, they are going to face Ukraine this Saturday in the quarter-final — and if they win they go to the sem-final and finally to the final. So, it is three more steps to be declared the champion, which also means there are three more chances to lose as well.

In the anti-government versus pro-government match, what is the scenario? Is it going to be as simple as what Clare Rewcastle Brown, Lokman Noor Adam, Isham Jalil, and all those other soothsayers say? Will in the next few days Muhyiddin Yassin be forced to resign — either because His Majesty the Agong titah (royal decree) him to do so, or because a vote of no confidence will be passed against Muhyiddin (once Parliament sits BEFORE 1st August 2021)?

As GILA-GILA POLITIK MALAYSIA pointed out in the article below, if Muhyiddin is forced out — either by Royal Decree or by vote of no confidence — who is going to take over as PM9? If no one has at least 111 votes to take over, how is the Agong or Parliament going to sack Muhyiddin?

(Actually, 111 votes, or a one vote majority, is still not good enough, as just one vote extra is too risky, and the government will be unstable. So, you need at least 115-120 votes to be safe).

By the way, SARAWAK REPORT COMMENT is exaggerating. The Covid-19 deaths in Malaysia are around 5,000 compared to UK’s 150,000 (and UK’s population is not even double that of Malaysia). And many of these deaths was because the opposition pushed for the Sabah state election (if not it would not even be 5,000). So why is Clare Brown not also asking Boris Johnson to resign?

Anyway, back to the main question. Let’s assume it is true that Muhyiddin Yassin is on his last leg and that he will leave office before 1st August 2021. Who is going to be PM9? Who will be able to get not less than 111 MPs (or more than 111 MPs) to support him/her to become PM9? And if Muhyiddin is forced out and no one has enough votes to take over, what is going to happen (based on what the Federal Constitution allows and stipulates)?

SARAWAK REPORT COMMENT

Mahiaddin has to go – in more ways than one as he himself informed us.

This hospital move is the failing PM’s equivalent of raising the white flag, like so many of his desperate countrymen have been forced to do.

Retiring on grounds of ill health is a deal more dignified that getting the sack, which is what ought to have happened to him by now, but at least he will be out by the backdoor which was the way he came in.

Thousands have died following his PN government’s counter-productive ’emergency lockdowns’ of the past months, designed to keep themselves in office rather than tackle the pandemic. The measures brought living hell for the kettled masses, whilst ‘Moo’s’ ministers and business cronies swanned around breaking all the rules and setting up ‘key industry’ exemptions for themselves.

The sooner this failure issues his statement of retirement the sooner Malaysia can get down to the genuine job of saving lives and restoring the economy. There is not a moment to lose and the Agong should not call in his stead any of the quarrelling team of puppet masters who have been running this sick man’s government from behind the scenes.

Malaysia needs a fresh start.

GILA-GILA POLITIK MALAYSIA

UMNO nak siapa pula jadi Perdana Menteri?

Takkan jadi Timbalan Perdana Menteri semula saja?

Ketetapan UMNO masih NO PKR, NO DAP.

Eh, kenapa masih cakap pasal tukar Kerajaan, tukar Perdana Menteri ni?

Kenapa minta Pelan Peralihan Kuasa jika tiada hasrat nak tukar PM?

Cakap biaq teqang …
