Those with pink wristbands not allowed to leave for vaccination, says MP

Those with pink wristbands are not allowed to go for vaccine appointments and must reschedule them.

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR’s Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil clarified that residents in enhanced movement control (EMCO) areas are allowed to go out for vaccination purposes but they must not be wearing pink wristbands.

He said that he had spoken to the Kuala Lumpur police chief and the district police chief over the matter.

“Those living in EMCO areas around KL are allowed to travel to the vaccination centres to get their jabs.

“However, those who have put on the pink wristband and waiting for test results for Covid-19 are not allowed to leave their homes,” he said.

Several areas in the city centre have been placed under EMCO from July 3 to July 16. Among the areas is the KerinchiPeople’s Housing Project (PPR), which falls under Fahmi’s constituency.

Fahmi added residents who missed their vaccination appointments or had cancelled it need to inform their respective heads of blocks in the flats.

“Health officers informed me that new appointment dates would be given to those who had missed or cancelled their appointments,” he said.

On Friday, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said those going for vaccinations only have to show proof of appointments on MySejahtera or website, their appointment card or SMS to police personnel when going through roadblocks in EMCO areas.

He said for emergency cases, such as illness or death, permission to travel will be given on a case-by-case basis. - FMT
