The Klang Selatan police have confirmed an incident where a woman with Covid-19 died in front of a clinic while on the way there to seek treatment.
This came after photos and videos of the woman lying in front of the clinic in Taman Sentosa, Klang, went viral on social media platforms.
Klang Selatan OCPD Shamsul Amar Ramli said the incident occurred about 9.45am yesterday, when the woman and a younger sibling went to seek treatment at the clinic.
“When in front of the clinic, the woman suddenly collapsed and became unconscious. Ambulance arriving at the location confirmed that she had passed away.
“The woman’s body was brought to Shah Alam Hospital and preliminary testing with a rapid test kit found her positive for Covid-19. She also has a history of diabetes and high blood pressure,” Shamsul said in a statement last night.
Police classified the case as a Covid-19 sudden death.
The incident comes as Malaysia recorded 199 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, which is the highest since the beginning of the pandemic.
Of these, 33 (16.6 percent) of those infected died before reaching a hospital, mostly in the Klang Valley. - Mkini
