A Malaysia Airlines flight that departed Hyderabad, India for Kuala Lumpur had to make an emergency landing early this morning after experiencing a technical problem with one of its engines.
In a statement, the airline said its MH199 flight had to return to Hyderabad due to an issue with the engine while it was ascending in altitude.
The plane successfully landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 3.21am local time (5.21am Malaysian time) without further incident.
"Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH199 from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur on June 20 returned to Hyderabad due to an issue with one of the engines during climb after take-off.
"The aircraft safely landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 3:21am local time; all passengers and crew disembarked safely.
"Affected passengers will be reallocated to other flights for their continued journey," it said.
The aircraft has been grounded for further inspection, it added. - Mkini
