KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan public works department (JKR) has detected 10 landslides on federal roads caused by the floods sweeping the state.
Its director, Nik Soh Yaacoub, said the landslides are located in Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah, Jeli and Machang.
He said some of the roads are closed to all traffic because of soil movements.
“In Gua Musang, the affected areas are Jalan Aring 8 and Jalan Lojing-Gua Musang near Kampung Jekjok in Pos Brooke, where two landslides have occurred,” he told Bernama.
“In Kuala Krai, two landslides were recorded, at Kampung Sungai Teku Luar and Jalan Sungai Sam-Jeli.”
In Machang, the three federal roads affected are Jalan Kemuning-Bukit Belah, Dataran Bukit Belah, and the access road to the VHF station at Bukit Bakar.
One landslide each was also recorded on Jalan Gerik-Jeli, East-West Highway, near Kampung Lakota in Jeli, and Jalan Kemahang 2 in Tanah Merah.
“JKR has installed warning signs and barriers in the affected areas, and we urge road users to exercise caution and comply with the instructions given,” he said. - FMT
