Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced allocations of RM25 million each for Kelantan and Terengganu in the wake of severe floods there.
Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said the funds, channelled through the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department, are for repairing essential infrastructure such as roads and drains, as well as raising road levels in Hulu Besut, Terengganu.
He also announced that the federal government will disburse RM500 to over 14,000 civil servants in Terengganu, involving an allocation of RM7.4 million.
He made the announcements after visiting flood victims at the SK Kampung Telaga Papan temporary evacuation centre in Setiu, Terengganu, which currently houses 269 evacuees.
The prime minister earlier went to Sultan Mahmud International Airport, Kuala Terengganu at 10.25am to assess the flood situation.
