ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, has consented to the state hosting the 2027 SEA Games football matches, state executive councillor Hairi Mad Shah said.
He said consent was obtained at an audience with the regent on Thursday.
However, the venues and the cost involved will be announced after discussions are held with the games secretariat, the youth and sports ministry and the Johor sports council, he told reporters.
He said the state government will submit an official application to the ministry next week to host the matches.
Last week, Hairi said Johor has good football facilities with direct access not only to Kuala Lumpur but also to Singapore. - FMT
