Two Nepalese men nabbed for sexually harassing a woman

 

SHAH ALAM: Two Nepalese men were arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman at an apartment in Taman Bukit Subang, Seksyen U16, last Wednesday (Feb 26).

A video lasting 2 minutes and 39 seconds has since gone viral, showing members of the public restraining two foreign men suspected of sexually harassing a woman at an apartment.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said a report regarding the incident was lodged at 6.04pm on Wednesday (Feb 26).

"The victim claimed that a man had called out to her before inserting his hand into his trousers and making an obscene gesture under the apartment block," he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 4).

Fearing for her safety, the woman rushed home, but the suspect, along with another of his countrymen, followed her, he said.

"The suspects acted aggressively by grabbing the front grille of the victim’s home and calling for her to come out.

"Terrified, the victim contacted her uncle for help.

"The two suspects were apprehended by the public before being handed over to the police," he said.

ACP Mohd Iqbal said investigations revealed that both men, aged 38 and 44, had no identification documents and were unemployed.

"Checks also showed that they had no prior criminal records," he said.

ACP Mohd Iqbal confirmed that the duo had been remanded for 14 days from Feb 27 to March 12.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
