Heavy rain dampens FA Cup final atmosphere

KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rain hit Bukit Jalil ahead of tonight's FA Cup final between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Sabah.

The downpour, which started around 5.30pm, watered-down the festive atmosphere of the final, even as thousands of supporters began flooding the National Stadium.

The pitch condition, however, appeared to be good with no waterlogging, despite the heavy rain.

JDT can equal the record of Selangor and Kedah as the team with the most FA Cup titles, with five trophies, should they beat Sabah tonight.

The Southern Tigers would also become the first team to defend the trophy four years in a row.

Sabah are looking to end a 30-year wait to lift the FA Cup. They previously won the cup in 1995, beating Pahang 3-1 in the final at the Merdeka Stadium. - NST
