KUALA LUMPUR: Police have sent the investigation paper on a PAS assemblyman’s social media post about the Perak National Day security breach to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) for further action.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the paper was referred to the AGC on Sept 10 after statements were taken from several witnesses.
"The probe was opened on Sept 10 under Teluk Intan Report 8162/2025. Police are investigating the case under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code for causing public fear or alarm, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper network use," he said in the written reply.
Saifuddin was replying to Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, who had asked what action was being taken against Manjoi assemblyman Mohd Hafez Sabri over his Facebook post related to the incident involving the Sultan of Perak at the state-level Merdeka celebration.
On Aug 31, police had earlier dismissed false claims spread online about the woman arrested in the case.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said investigators were looking into the misleading posts.
Hafez later issued an apology, saying his comments had been taken out of context and misused by others. - Star
